Dear reader, this page is not about a church, a religion, or a list of rules. It is about your soul, and about the Son of God. Please read it slowly, and read it as though God were speaking to you — because in His Word, He is.

Luke 15:4–6

  1. God is holy

    God is light, and He cannot pass over sin as though it did not matter. He is not a softer version of us; He is holy, and He sees every thought and every deed.

    And this is the message which we have heard from him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

    1 John 1:5

  2. You have sinned

    Not some people — all. Not only the worst — you and I. We have each turned to our own way, and we have come short of the glory of God. No good deed can undo one sin.

    for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    Romans 3:23

    All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way; and Jehovah hath laid upon him the iniquity of us all.

    Isaiah 53:6

  3. Sin must be judged

    The wages of sin is death, and after death, the judgment. Eternity is real, and it is long. If you die in your sins, you will bear them yourself — for ever.

    For the wages of sin is death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Romans 6:23

    And forasmuch as it is the portion of men once to die, and after this judgment;

    Hebrews 9:27

  4. God loves you

    Here is the wonder: the God you have sinned against loves you. He did not wait for you to become better. While we were still sinners, He gave His Son.

    but God commends his love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us.

    Romans 5:8

    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.

    John 3:16

  5. Christ died for sinners

    The Lord Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, bore the judgment that sinners deserve. He died for our sins, was buried, and was raised the third day. God is satisfied with the blood of His Son — and when He sees the blood, He passes over.

    For I delivered to you, in the first place, what also I had received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; and that he was buried; and that he was raised the third day, according to the scriptures;

    1 Corinthians 15:3–4

    for Christ indeed has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,

    1 Peter 3:18

    And the blood shall be for you as a sign on the houses in which ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be among you for destruction, when I smite the land of Egypt.

    Exodus 12:13

  6. Not by your works

    You cannot earn this, and you do not need to. Salvation is God’s gift, freely given. Your prayers, your religion and your good intentions cannot add to what Christ has finished.

    For ye are saved by grace, through faith; and this not of yourselves; it is God's gift: not on the principle of works, that no one might boast.

    Ephesians 2:8–9

    not on the principle of works which have been done in righteousness which we had done, but according to his own mercy he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

    Titus 3:5

  7. Believe on the Lord Jesus

    Come to God as a lost sinner, and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour. Whoever hears His word and believes has eternal life — not might have, but has — and will never come into judgment. He will not cast you out.

    And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.

    Acts 16:31

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, that he that hears my word, and believes him that has sent me, has life eternal, and does not come into judgment, but is passed out of death into life.

    John 5:24

    All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and him that comes to me I will not at all cast out.

    John 6:37

  8. Now

    Do not wait for a better moment. God has not promised you to-morrow. Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation.

    (for he says, I have listened to thee in an accepted time, and I have helped thee in a day of salvation: behold, now is the well-accepted time; behold, now the day of salvation:)

    2 Corinthians 6:2

    how shall we escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken of by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard;

    Hebrews 2:3

Assurance

You may know.

These things have I written to you that ye may know that ye have eternal life who believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 John 5:13
